Add me to the growing list of broken 01 transmissions. 2nd gear came apart out at the dunes this weekend - 1st ride of the long weekend and I never even got to test out my +3 swing arm and Elka rear shock [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

I'll be contacting the Consumer Products Safety folks and also writing a couple letters.

You should have gone right to the emergency room when your tranny went out...

 

I'm glad I'm changing mine before it goes out. It would suck to have it crash n burn in the middle of riding, especially in the middle of the dunes.

 

I have the 2002 Tranny update amd mine went out again!
2nd gear like the first time.

I dumped my 2001 rappy today, traded it for a 2002 banshee. got a decent deal.

I fell much better not worrying that it will break.

Sorry for your troubles. I would go for the 2002 upgrade, although that might not last either.

I'm getting concerned - I was under the impression that the 02 gears were OK and not an issue. From what I'm hearing, there is still a weakness even in the 02's - correct ?

Yamahachad how did you manage to destroy the 02 setup??? You do know what a clutch is right. [LOL]
Im just wondering if it was a bad gear or something to do with the installation process.

 

knock wood, but mines still OK. even let some teen ride it for a few last weekend, [his dad was there] and theyre from roseburg...
the tranny was the least of my worries watching him! whew! but it came back OK.
