My 02 raptor is a bit tough to get into first gear sometimes?? any suggestions ???????

 

Make sure the clutch free-play is adjusted correctly - the owners manual covers it. I noticed trouble and solved it by properly adjusting the clutch.

 

I had the same trouble. In a race it really bites. What I did was bought a power shifter and eliminated all that crappy stock linkage and now it shifts like a dream!! Highly recommended by me...but than again...who am I !?!?...LOL[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

Thanks I'll try adjusting the clutch maybe the idle is too high also. I don't reallly want to spend $45 for a shift lever, seems outragous when Yamaha should have done it right the first time!! We only spent $6000 on these machines you think we could have gotten a decent shift lever and not something that resembles the the mouse trap game i had as a kid!!!!!!!!
