i was out with my friends today riding and one of the guys there, that i have never seen before, said that his 400ex with a fmf titanium series or somthing like that. And jetted good could out run a raptor 1-3 gears i thought it was crap but dident say anything just wanted to see what you all thought.

 

I had a guy talk crap to me before. He had 400 ex with yoshi pipe and jetted but he didnt show up to rqace. At the local drag track I raced a 416 piped and no telling what else and he still couldnt beat me. They might keep up if the raptor is just wheeleing.

400 will not out run the raptor unless the rider does not no how to ride it or they are scared of it

ok lets say there are 2 riders of equal riding skills. One is on the 400 I spoke of earlyer, and the other on a factory Raptor. In a race on the dirt track same tires, who would win

I think a raptor would, so just tell me so i can really tell him that he might have beat the rider not the machine

 

As far as the two machines go, the raptor is still the superior machine. As far as rideing conditions, rider weight, rider skill goes, thats a whole different story. One experience with a 400ex I had was at a 300ft drag strip, was sandy. He had it pipped jetted, this and that. Mine was pipped, jetted, filterd. We raced against each other probably 10-12 times. I won easily everytime. I only weigh 140 so traction was my biggest disadvantage with the sand conditions. He decided he wanted to try mine out so we switched bikes and rode around for a second to get use to them and then lined up again. I beat him on his own bike. Shows that anyone can get on a 400ex and drag, but takes real experience and skill to launch and controll the power of the raptor.

last summer I sat at the bottom the face at the south jetty in Florence and encouraged 3 guys sitting on 400 EX'S to come over and race my Shee up the face. No one would come over except the people ridding other Shee's and the Raptors, and I was beaten by a guy on a Stock Raptor with a GYRT pipe a couple of times, so I know that if a Raptor can beat my Shee it will blow away a 400EX in a heart beat. Honda may have the lead in dirt bikes but thats it, Yamaha is the leader in ATV'S. I wouldn't even sweat it. If he really thought that he could beat you,he would want to race not talk crap like a girl..

 

I ride with a guy who has a 400ex with ct pipe, jet kit, k&n filter, rev box and crankcase breather. He weighs 160 lbs and the bike runs clean and is tuned perfect. I ride 01 raptor stock with the spark arrestor pulled out and I weigh 260 lbs. No competition I beat him through all gears and top end. In all types of riding. Hills, flats and sand. He is an experianced good rider. I later added the ct pipe, header, jet kit and filters to my stock raptor at it was ....see ya later dude... no change
