Default Banshee throttle

Anyone had any problems with an extermely tight Banshee throttle? I am thinking of switching it out with maybe a Raptor throttle. It just wears the crap out of my thumb making the ride short.

Stock carbs or aftermarket? If stock, are you running the TORS system?

The TORS is the throttle overide system that is on the top of the carbs. If everything is bone stock and it is wearing out your hand, you must not be used to riding or you have very small hands. If it is just due to not riding much, it will get better in time. I use a medicine ball (stress ball) to massage my hands because some TT tracks are really rough and pulling my twin 35.5's is tough. If I am just sitting around doing nothing I will work with the ball. I do it about 10 times a week and it helps.

I cut the springs down on my 35.5's, but I wouldn't really recommend it on stock springs since they are pretty soft anyway. The stiffness comes from having to pull two springs instead of one like single cylinder bikes.

How old is your banshee? The cable could be shot.

The Banshee is brand new and has only been ridden probably 10 times and by 3 different people. Each person complained about the throttle so I dont think its the hand size thing. Can you switch out throttle mechanisms on the Banshee?

Yeah, it can be swapped out. There are numerous aftermarket companies that make throttle assemblies. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get ahold of them right now. Just do a net search. The raptors might work. You also might try loosening the nut on the bottom of the thumb arm. I can't remember if overtightening it will cause a stiff throttle, but it might. It is a nylock nut so it can be ran loose.

You have something wrong in your throttle mechanism. It shouldnt be tough to push in at all. Take your cables off to see if they slide freely, then check inside your carb to make sure there isnt any sand inside of it hanging the slide up. If you want an aftermarket system Terry makes a pretty cool billet throttle assemble as does moose. Im not impressed with the moose on our banshee. Its lifting 44mm carbs and its a pretty stiff lift, even for the huge slides. And the internal throw rod rubs the inside of the throttle case. Its a scary thought if that rod hangs up at WOT.

well my shee is new also, and it is very hard on the thumb. i ride snowmobiles in the winter, so my thumb should be in good shape for summer when it is time to ride the shee again.
but i too think it is very hard to pull, of cors it is definatly worth the pain
