trailblazer 250 vs. honda 250ex

We have got both machines. Stock, there is no question the 250EX is fastest. It is quicker and has the most top speed. As far as jumping, it is a bit of a toss up. The EX is the easiest to jump well, give it a little gas going off a jump and it flies right and is very easy to fling around in the air. The TB on the other hand is a little pickier, you have to be on the gas a little sooner and plan your jump more but it has WAY BETTER suspension. You can safely jump without jarring your teeth out. On the trail the TB is more comfortable with a far better ride. It is more relaxed with the point and shoot acceleration. The Honda is very quick thru the tight stuff. It is small and very nimble. They both are good climbers but the EX is a little better if you have to maneuver around obstacles on your way up. The EX takes a little more attention to be sure the front doesn't come up on you, but I never found it to be a problem. The EX is better in the mud due to its light weight and slightly better ground clearance as well as the shaft drive. Put a good pair of mud tires on the EX and it will surprise you. Overall it is a hard call. Comfort and ease of ride is much better on TB. The EX feels sportier and it wheelies at will. It depends on what you want from your machine. I like 'em both.

I'll second what BK said but take into consideration that the TB is a 2 stroke and a few hundred in aftermarket parts and it will stomp the EX ,where as the EX is a 4 stroke and you will get nowhere the gains as the TB, Stock vs stock=EX Mod vs Mod=TB.
But again it is your choice what ever you want Auto or gears shaft or Chain drive 4 stroke or 2 stroke both are good choice in the 250 class you might want to check the Rally too but it is more utility based Good Luck

I'll be polite since this is the Polaris forum. I owned a new 2000 TB and traded for 2003 250EX. I prefer the EX as does my daughter once she got used to shifting. She said she can break the back end loose easier in the turns. (Both are/were stock machines) I think the above posts are fair and balanced. I just prefer the throttle respose of a manual, reliability of 4 stroke and shaft drive and the small light feel of the EX. As was alluded to, the EX is a hoot in the tight stuff. Beyond all that, I'm a unrepentant Hondaholic.

I can say that as for reliability that the Trailblazer is just as reliable. The trailblazer has much better suspension. You can put a pipe on the trailblazer and it will kill the EX. The ONLY thing that I liked the EX over the trailblazer is the semi auto shifting. Everything else goes to the trailblazer. For the smaller rider the EX would be much better to handle because of the size and weight of the trailblazer but the trailblazer is much more stable and can climb and jump just as good as the EX. I cant compare my TB because it is highly modded but when I was looking for an atv I rode the EX and didnt care for it much. There is not much you can do to the EX compared to the TB. I thaught the top speed was about the same but the 250 got there a little quicker. Nothing a clutch kit on the TB cant fix!!
