When did this start happening? Unless you have gotten some bad gas or you messed with the carb, you shouldn't have anything wrong with the carb. I think your problem could be somewhere else. Kinda sounds like an air leak. Either in your intake or cylinder gaskets. Start your motor and spray some contact cleaner or brake cleaner on your gasket areas or intake boot to see if you have any leaks. If the engine idle changes while you are spraying then you surely have an air leak.
As for performance mods, they are out there. Just not very many made specifically for the 300. Go to my personal page to see a list of most of the stuff done to mine. I think you can click on the camera to left of where you are reading now.

in the rear and,22x9.00x10 in front would this be a good set up? would the meaty fronts get me hung up? or would they help me be able to turn in muddy trails? info would be great!

The super swampers, would probably be good. You seem to run in alot of mud. The bigger front tires will help a little because they will try to stay(float) on top. Once they get baried deep in the mud, they will be hard to push through the mud or pull out.
My pipe is from Ritter Cycle Racing(RCR). It is the scrambler 400 mid pipe. I wouldn't recommend it for you though because of all my engine mods. You would benefit nicely on just the 250 pipe.
Planing the head down will help but, you should really do it by compression. I am "pretty sure" you could shave .010" - .020" off and be OK. Just don't let your compression get over 150 and you won't have to worry about running race gas. As a real general rule of thumb, you'll get about 10 - 15psi for a .010" cut. The smaller the chamber gets, the faster these numbers rise. Also, this will make your engine produce more heat. This could be bad if you are doing alot of slow riding in deep mud holes. Your engine could easily over heat with those tires in those conditions.

yea i think it might be best if i leave me head stock, i don't need it over heatin with air cooled it does stay to cold anyways. While i head the head off there is come werid lookin carbon on it. its like a layer of carbon was on the chamber and pistol top, and then it started to flake away? should i clean this up with a high grit sandpaper? 220+? thanks for ur help elroy

If you have it apart, you might as well clean it. I usually pick off as much as i can then sand the rest off. The biggest thing to watch for is damaging or removing the aluminum. Just take it easy and only remove the carbon. The carbon really don't hurt anything in your case. In fact some would say it is kind a good because it can actually give you slightly higher compression numbers. I myself, just like a clean engine. On high performance engines it can cause some possible problems.

yea the main ? would be the carbon looks werid. it looks like a layer was built up and then it started flakin away? most carbon i've seen v8's and this quads is a layer all the way arond never really seen it flake befor? i was thinking would this flakin carbon end up on one of my rings and start to damage the cylinder? what could i do to pervent (not the carbon buildup) early engine wear out. i used just some 2cyc. oil laying around should of i went and bought some POLARIS oil we have used polaris for like 8 years then we started usin other brands.
