I backed my 2000 Trail Blazer (only 6 mo old)out last night and the battery was dead. Four out of six battery stems that hold the acid in was trashed, it was has if they were 10 years old. I called some Polaris dealers and they said that they have seen this before. It is a first for me, on any battery. You might want to check yours so you don’t lose the acid out of your battery.

Mudd,

I had a similar experience with my '98 Sportsman. Not the same but I will tell you anyways. The caps were OK but the cells were so low it killed the battery.

I blame the dealer for the problem and myself for not keeping an eye on the levels. When lead acid batteries are filled they have to sit for a while for the plates to soak up the acid. The battery must then be topped off to the correct levels. I don't believe my dealer did this. A battery shouldn't have 1/2 full cells when it is 6 months old.

I made sure the new battery was filled correctly and I have not had to top it off since (but I now check it regularly).
