1996 Magnum 425

I think the 1996 models had a cable driving the speedo. My first guess would be that the cable is broken. Pop apart the handlebar pod. You should, with a little effort, be able to unscrew the cable going into the back of the speedo. Get it where you can see the end of the cable. Now drive slowly. If it doesn't turn, try pulling the center part of the cable out. My guess is it will be frayed/broken. If it looks good, it is probaby the drive gear.

There is a small drive key under the angle drive on the transmission that is the culprit most often.
But first the cable can be pulled out of the sheath easily and checked. make sure its lubed with a light oil
and not kinked anywhere.
