Default CV Boot Question

If I did not have bad luck I would have no luck! Riding this past Sunday, I was lucky enough to pick up about 6 yards of shoe string on the trails. Don't ask! lol I did not know that I had the string wrapped around my right back tire axcel until I went to use the brakes, and their where no brakes! The string conventiantly in cluded the brake line when it started getting tight. The brake line was cut. It also cause the CV boot to wrap around the axcel. Once I got it home and unwrapped the boot, I noticeed a slight cut into the top of the boot. My question is, do I have to replace the boot, or is their away to patch the boot. The cut is like 1/16 to 1/8 in length.

Thanks for your help

Default SP600 CV Boot Question

You can try rubber tire patch kit cement, but if its either bit greasy or dirty it probably won't stick. Best bet is to replace it with a new boot. If you dont, the boot will eventually fill full of water, mud and debris and quickly grenade your CV joint. Its cheaper to replace your boot now rather than a boot and cv axle later.
