DOT Approved ATV Tires
#2
Maybe some of the flat track or drag racing tires are dot approved. Im thinking something like hoosier. But good luck making that thing street legal, it would be one fun ride around the town. I wish michigan would let atvs on the road.
Oh, just out of curiosity, have you gotten your 01 tranny updated? Ive seen a lot more reported tranny failures latley....

Im pretty sure I know what you have to do. First you need tail lights, blinkers, horn, mirrors, front lights (hi-low), dot approved tires, motorcycle endorcement on licence, and a licence plate... Im about 98% sure you cannot get ATVs street legal in michigan. And getting some one to insure you would be a joke..

Actually in Arizona, the Raptor is well on its way to being street legal. All I should have to add is a mirror, horn, white light on the license plate, registered as a vehicle, and license plate. I think that is it. I don't think you have to have DOT approved tires either, but I'll tell you why I want them in a second.
Here in AZ, there are some dirt roads that are maintained by the State, City, or County. If the dirt road has a number on it and it is a vertical sign, you have to be street legal even though it is a dirt road. If the sign is horizontal, you don't have to be street legal. I may have goofed up on the sign orientation of whether or not you have to be street legal or not, but I think you get my point. Needless to say, on some dirt roads in the forest or trials, you have to be street legal.
Technically, in AZ you can make your ATV street legal and ride it on the street and you don't have to have DOT approved tires. Basically, if I have to get my ATV street legal, I'm going all out and riding it on the street too since I have to doing everything anyway except the tires. But if I get pulled over, I can say that I have everything and also DOT approved tires.
Before you think that I am going overboard, I basically live in the out skirts of town and I think it would be fun to just cruise around for a half hour so on a nice day since I don't get to take much time to take the whole day off and go riding.

Eagle also makes a tire that fits a 10" rim. I am not 100% sure if it is DOT approved but it looks it!

Get some ITP magnum 12" rims, and then you will have TONS of cool car tires to choose from! Then you can keep your factory knobbies on your factory rims, so when its time to pound the trails/dunes you will have no worries, just change tire combos.

The 12"s are cool, and it would offer a few more choices, but the wheels cost a good bit more than a set of blue or black label 10's.
Heck, you can always get adapters made and run automotive 15" wheels, or go "bling blingin' " wit some 20's.
