Raptor owners...Please help with questions about carbs
#1
Just bought two new Raptors and have them in Mexico.
I bought them on my way out of town so I had White Brothers R4 Silencers put on both. The dealer told me no jetting would be required with this Silencer.
My questions are:
1. Does this sound right...no jetting increase for a White Brothers R4 Silencer?
2. How do I get to the Needles? I see there is a big plastic boot on top of the carbs. Do I have to remove the tank to get to them? If I do, what pieces of the plastic do I have to remove to get the tank off?
3. If I want to change the Needle position, do I do it the same on both carbs? Never had a two carb/one cylinder setup before.
4. If I increase the Pilot Jets, do I change both? What are the stock sizes already in the carbs. Are they the same sizes?
5. If I increase the Main Jets, do I change both? What are the stock sizes already in the carbs? Are they the same sizes?
6. Are there any "tricks" to being able to get access to the float bowls to change the jetting? Do I have to remove any of the plastic, airbox, etc.? Are the carbs simple to rotate sideways so I can access the bottom of the bowls?
I am not at home, so I do not have access to a mechanic or local shop to get answers to these questions.
Thanks,
Rob

1: no
2: take off all the front plastic and then the tank, on top of each carb will be two black plastic covers(two crews in each) take those screws out, the needles are in there
3: yes
4: yes change both, stock is 22.5
5: 140/145 is stock, I think, go up in incraments spaced the same as stock
6: NO tricks at all you HAVE to take the carbs all the way off to rejet. They are hooked together so you can't just turn them

just do a search on jetting and you will find out what you need to know.you will need to take all the front plastic off and the gas tank to get to the carbs.if you put on a silencer i would also modify the airbox to let it breath a lot better, then you will need to rejet.
if you change the needle position keep them the same for both.
im not sure about the pilot jets.
if you increase the main jets keep the right side larger than the left side always.
i dont have all the answers because i don't mess with mine all that much.just do a search and you will be fine.
