Hey Jonathan...welcome to the forum...I race MX with an 02 Raptor and my wife races an 03LE Raptor. As far as "rapping out", don't know what that means. But if he means slow to get up to speed, he's not talking about a Raptor. Our Raptors are snappy right off the line and on long stretches, they continue to have plenty of "cajones". I race mine in the desert also and still haven't had any down time with it. And believe me, it takes a serious beating.

I bought my in late January and so for my rear shock had to be replaced. I popped off my carb boots once climbing a hill. Other than that is has been great. It is a great quad to buy. Also have had no problems with the tranny. Never regreted buying mine eithier.

My LE has been 100% reliable so far. I have ridden it almost every Saturday and Sunday for the last three or four months, so it is seeing some use. Believe it or not, this was my first quad and am sooooooo happy I got it. It handles well for me and the motor powers up nicely. I mostly trail ride with small jumps and occasional high speed (for me) passes.

My Raptor makes me SMILE to even look at, it let alone ride it. However, I have gotten AftermarketUpgradeitis- A serious condition to where one spends a significan't amount of money so as one dosen't have to look at plumbers crack or dig roost residue from crevaces of teeth; furthermore, he or she is willing to work a considerable amout of hours to conpensate for this inflamatory condition :-)
