Thinking about a 500, i need some info first

Yea i think that i am going to get a 500 manual 4x4 and i was originally going to get a scrambler 500 but i needed somthing more for utility and i want a manual, SO i was wondering if i should just wait for the 2004 models of the cat to come out or buy a 03 model, i also was wondering if the manual performs the same as the automatic, do they go the same speed and have the same power? thanks for the help

Those are 2 totally different 4 wheelers. One is a utility and one is a sport blike.
Auto vs. Manual-- If you don't mind shifting it's the way to go. You never have to worry about a belt breaking and leaving you in the middle of nowhere. The AC won't keep up with a Scrambler though.

Auto VS Manual Cats are the same speed or very close. Don't expect rocket ship performance out of the 500 though, its a slug. The 03's are better but nothing like the scrambler, the scrambler is more sport oriented but not has utility characteristics, its a good middle ground between pure sport and pure utility.

In a drag race the auto will always be faster because the engine stays at its peak hp and torque instead of running up and down the gears only peaking for a second. As far as top speed, I don't know. The Cat is not very fast on top end.
If you are worried about speed forget about the Cat. It's not made for hauling a__. It's setup for slower speed technical stuff. It sounds like what you want is a Polaris Sportsman 500HO. All the utility u need plus it will outrun most the 4X4's on the market. There are some faster, but the HO also has full racks and can carry everything you need. It is extremely fast and smooth on normal ground. If I wasn't ridin rack deep in mud and water everytime I go, I would be riding one. The belt setup is not the best for what I do. U also have the advantage of true four wheel drive instead of 3 wheel drive with a Polaris.
I would not recommend a Scrambler because there are no racks and no low range. The HO is almost as fast, just heavier.

I heard the new 2 seater will be out.
I also read somewhere in a magazine the other day that Arctic Cat is about to start using EFI on the premium models in 04'. I think they mean the 500's only. EFI would be pretty cool.
