Default Thinking about a 500, i need some info first

I've had a 500i manual for about a year, and just love it. Strong, pulls great, rides great, rolls over just about anything. One year and 500 miles, and the only problem is a broken headlight bulb, a branch came up under the fender and knocked it off. Other than that, just put in gas and go.

Top speed - low 50's, but so what? It's a big utility quad, none of them are happy campers at high speed.

Power - I've taken the big cat to some nasty places, not enough power has never been an issue. I like that big torquey engine, power at any RPM.

Load carrying - I've hauled two big guys, one on the front rack and one on the back, and it didn't bottom out. It's been a real workhorse for the farm.

Is the manual faster than the auto? Dunno - I've ridden both and couldn't tell that much difference, other than belt autos in general just feel weird to me.

I have had both the auto and manual Arctic Cat 500`s side by side. If the bikes are identical except for manual/auto and are the same year, the manual trans will beat the auto everytime in a race. I`ve tested this many times.

The bike is not built for speed, and untill you do a test and put it on a computer you will not know what soaks up the power on these bikes. The FIS on these cats do not suck up any power. If anything it does nothing at all.

Think about what you are saying.\

Think about a HUMMER! Think about the rincon. Why is everyone going to the FIS? ITS BETTER!

I ride with every common bike nown to man. i see how each bike reacts to sifferent stuff. we all attempt the same things. i can provide you a list of things we do to test these bikes. alot of the times speed is need to give you momentum. other times good ole low end torqe and ground clearance brings you to the top of the food chain

I said it the extra weight makes it FEEL slower, it doesn't actually make its much slower, so you might want to keep that winch on. I know for a fact thar the more turns you have in a drivetrain the power you loose. Your transfering the power from one axle shaft to another using joints, these joints do not transfer 100% of the energy produced by the motor, they are not 100% efficient thus for each joint you have the more power you loose.

Yes new quads are going IRS, it gives a nice ride and wicked ground clearence which I love but it is less reliable when the going gets tough. The hummer is IRS but it is built very tough to take abuse, quads are not, that is why IRS quads are less reliable than a solid rear axle quad.

So please undertand and stop argueing and please use facts not just words that make it sound like you know what your talking about, thanks.

DUDE GO Home
and by the way where is your p650.
Just becuase you managed to get a lemon you take your frustration out on other HAPPY Cat owners.

I would never step down to your level and give you an argument!

YOU DONT LIKE CATS, WE KNOW. SO WHY DO YOU KEEP ON COMMING IN HERE AND FLAPPING YOUR JAWS!

WE DONT CARE WHAT YOUR THEORIES ARE,OR ANY INPUT YOU MAY HAVE. INSTEAD OF HAVING PHYSICS DO YOUR TALKING LET YOUR BIKE DO IT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE YOU DONT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES. YOUR ONE OF THE ONES THAT BUYS A BIKE FOR SHOW . YOU RIDE SCARED AND IT COMES BACK TO HAUNT YOU. YOUR ONE THAT SAYS HEY LOOK WHAT I HAVE.

SO SHEW GO AWAY! IM DONE WITH YOU

What did I say that offended you so mutch, in this thread. I'm not ******* the 500i in this thread, I'm stating the facts, plain and simple. My past replies has made you pre-judgmental about my posts, sorry.

If I only drove my quad for show I don't think I would of broke 2 axles on my 500i. So please read my reply and respond to it.
