Default Piston and cam Break in? What about Oil?

I get my bike back on Friday, plan on riding it all day Sat. (my formative break in period) and head to Dumont Dunes Sun. My question is should this be enough of a break in period and is it imperative that I change the oil before heading to Dumont considering the oil is supposed to be a break in oil. Thanx, any suggestions would help

right now I am in the process of breaking mine in, too. I am using a Valvoline full synthetic 20w-50 oil. I just got it at Autozone. The main reason to change the oil is that when you install a new cam, and piston and stuff, you are supposed to use a lot of assembly lube. After ther break in, the assembly lube mixes in with your oil. If I were you, I would change the oil. You can buy an STP oil filter at Autozone for $3 (number 6607) and oil for $3 a quart, so for around $12, I'd say to just go ahead and do it. Better safe than sorry.

I agree with changing your oil, just not in using the cheapo filter, at that cost I suppose I could afford to do an autopsy on a new one to compare its filtering abilities to stock. I use the K&N cause I hate Yamaha and its an equal product.

No NO NOOOOOO!!! Stay away from synthetic oil for breakin!!!! It's to slppery and wont let your motor wear in. Use petrolium oil for the first few oil changes then you can go to synthetic. Drain that sythetic out immediatly!!!
