Local shop installing cam and piston, the mechanic checked valve clearences and noticed the cam needed to be trimmed to provide clearences?????? Please anyone with these specs or correct procedure let me know. This shop is speaking a foriegn language to me, I am trying to visualize what they are talking about. What frightens me is I would think an experienced shop would know this information. thanks

 

I've never heard of trimming the cam.He might meen trim or cut or shave off of the top of the guide. That is not all that uncommon.

 

Okay, I'm sure that's what they said. Like I said I am learning this whole process. What is the tolerance for trimming the Valve guides. The question the shop was how much do they trim????

 

I did get the New valve springs, but as far as the seals, the Yamaha dealership should know to shange the seals????? I hope. Hey Air, I am also in the Air Force, you guys keep safe over there.

 

Dude, Nellis has got to be the best damn base. I never want to leave this place, can do anything within a 3hr radius.
