can someone tell me what is the atvanage of buying a clutch kit over just replacing the springs? i have been told i can replace the springs and go to a 700 belt and get the same performance. if this is true what spring (color) or model # & company do you recommed? i'm new to cvt's and don't know alot about them. i like the bike,i just don't lag on take off. one other problem . i modified the stock exaust buy cuting off the (shark fin) looking pipe and filled it , then machined a hole in the rear for a 1.5 long x 1.5 id stainless tubing. i've lost some torque, not to bad but i can tell when i am climbing a hill. i need to know the stock jet size & what size i should try for 1000 ft. ( i think). also, it still has the stock air cleaner. thanks for any info that would help!

Welcome! I bought an HPD aggressive clutch kit. This thing will make my scram stand up on command. You can change just the springs, but to get the most out of the clutch, you should get a clutch kit. It comes with new springs, weights, and a helix. The weights and helix are suppose to make it upshift and downshift better (I think:confused My clutch kit came with a brown primary spring and a violet secondary spring. I also put a 700 belt on and so far it hooks up great. I also put a full HPD exhaust on which has given me a noticeable increase in low end torque and hp. The stock main jet size is 155. My pipe came with a 165. Most people that run slip on mufflers run a 160. Also, do yourself a favor and trash that stock airfilter in favor for a K&N. I would reccomend HPD or RCR for all your clutch and other mods.

What kinda quad do you have. I forgot to mention that the jet size that I was refering to is for the scram 500. I dont know if it is the same for the sp500.

i tried just to put a spring in the sprimary clutch but it wouldnt work i used like a light bluish color one and i would of had to buy the weights with it so i didnt get it but im going to buy the hpd kit for $90 soon it doesnt come with the helix but everything else

BigBadScrambler can you do wheelies pretty easy now like going 10 mph an hitting the gas i can do it going about 5 or up a hile pretty good but ihave to pull real hard on the handle bars and I hate that i would like to wheelie over objects without stoping thanks

I dont know Looks like I will have to take it down the drivway tommorow and see. It is kinda a toss up. It will either wheelie or spin the tires. And this is on concrete!! Unfortunely, I wont be able to really test it out until spring break. That is when I am going up north. I made the mistake of leaning back a tad, and hitting about 1/3 throttle and damn near landed on my ***!!! The HPD kit made a BIG difference. I dont know which made more, the pipe or the clutch kit. But, the differnce is VERY noticeable

My spring break is mid April. Were going up April 18-22. I wanted to go up this weekend but my friends with the dirtbikes need to rebuild them, again. And my friends DS is falling apart I ride with 3 of my best friends in northen Mich because I live in the township. I ride with a DS650 (whopped him in the woods), a YZ125 (and KX80) and a RM80. I am the one that has to carry the gas!!!
