Rick at RCR will hook you up with a new primary spring that will imporve it some. The HPD kit would be the best way to go, but Rick will get you going a little better with just a primary spring. I had a 98 Scram 500 HO, and started with a new primary spring from Rick. After you get used to that, you'll want more.....

the waterways / dicks creek one is about 1/2 hour the others are 1 1/2 from my house. i said i would never pay to ride when i could ride for miles for free out of my back yard. but then i went to see what all the talk was about, and it,s great! that is why i bought the scrambler for the4x4 i rode all last year on a300ex . it did ok but some places i wished i had 4wd.

I know what you mean by 4x4. I have a good friend that lives in Beckley which is only what about an hour from the Rockhouse Trailhead? So, I am going to go up this summer and stay with him a few days and ride, ride, ride. There are so many places to ride in WV it is not even funny, hack my buddy can ride on the roads there in Beckley. Not fair, cause I have hardly anywhere to ride here and he gets to ride down the highway! Not to mention all the strip jobs he rides all the time. Oh well, just too dang cold there in the winter for me.

slickdog if your a trail rider do not bother getting the whole kit you can get buy without the helix your stock helix is perfect for trail riding with better backshift then you will get with the split helix get there secondary spring though hPD violet secondary set at 2/2 with the stock helix. 50 gram wieghts would be a better choice then the stock 46 gram any more weight on the primary you will lose engine rpm without some serious mods your primary well that is up to what you want for engagement and shiftout .Now this is just my thoughts on the matter and in no way carved in stone rider weight if ya double alot ect all make a diff
Call darrell at HPD or Rick Ritter at RCR have all your things wrote down so you do not forget tell them what type of riding you do where you want your engagement kind of backshift you would like your weight Ect everything you can think off all helps they will get you a setup for your style of riding my setup works for me but I did alot of testing trial and error maybe talking to them I can save you the trouble.
when your quad is properley clutched for you it is a totally diff quad GOOD LUCK

thanks alpine2, all i do is trail ride althogh most times the ride turns into a all out race. i tend to ride very aggressive when i'm out with the boys. but i also like exploring and making new trails and i double my wife alot . i don't want a kit that is so aggressive i can't take off smooth when on a hill or loop out when i have my wife on with me. yet i want to be able to crack the throtle and wheelie over mud holes or water breaks. i would think i could feather the throtle to take off smooth when i want even if i bought a aggressive kit.( if i,m wrong about that someone please let me know!) im sure hpd or rcr can help me decide what is best for my style of riding . thanks for the info.
