hey- can anyone give me the proformance specs on a 93-98 Kodiak 400
is it the same engine as the new big bear has???
whats the top speed?
how is the suspension?, can it be used reasonably good on fast trails?
how much pulling power?/ what have you pulled?
what problems are associated with it?
is it open diff. or limited slip?
thanks in advance

Hello. I believe the cc are the same as the new bb. However I'm really not sure if they have done any modifications to the engine though. Here in Canada the BB still has low range so that is one unchanged feature. I was only able to get 70km/h out of my 93 Kodiak. The suspension is not bad on the trails but pretty bad coming off of a little jump. Jumping even the smallest jump was pretty scary because my atv was very nose heavy. When it came to pulling and raw torque it was incredible. I was able to pull a 4x4 Ford Ranger that was stuck right to the frame. In the three years that I had the 93 I only had to change 1 u-joint on the front shaft that delievers the 4x4. My differential was called a TCD (Torque Controlled Differential). It was a limited slip type.
I will say that if you are looking for a smooth ride you might be disappointed because lets face it Yamaha 4x4's of the 90's were designed to work and not play.
Good luck

i agree, i have a 96 and the thing can work. it is my first, so i don't really have anything to compare it to. But it will go about 35 mph on the speedo, 4 x 4 is full time, works on trails, not the best but it will handle it's own. it's more of a work machine. I got a chance to plow with it this year and it did that well. Never had a problem with it either.
