Kawasaki 650 or Grizzly 660?

My friend is having trouble deciding between the Praire and the Grizzly. Can anyone tell me which one is better and why? I need to help him out. Also which do you think is a better deal for the money?

the grizzly is tougher than the prairie and cheaper if i'm not mistakin. i had a 02 660 griz and they will hold up to alot of sh*t. i would definitely get the griz...it is the baddest 4x4 ever.

I'm trying to make the same decision here. I haven't ridden either, but from what I've heard I like the ride the IFS gives especially for long rides. On the other hand there's been so many good reports on the P650s power that its making for a very difficult decision. I don't think reliability will be an issue on either machine. The only other machine I've considered is the SP600. Here the prices are so close that that is not an issue either. The only factor some people have is how close they are to a dealer. Which ever you choose I'm sure it will be a great machine(and if you dont know anyone with the others, you will never know how they compare first hand)

I like the Prairie 650 a little better than the Grizzly. The P650 is just a little sportier and a little faster.
But if your going to drive over larger rocks alot then I'd pick the Grizzly with more ground clearance.

I chose the 650 and I'm glad I did. My personal opinion is the grizz would be better for slower riding and would be better in the mud. Around here we ride mostly on hardpack, with a little mud. I think the Prairie best fits my riding here. We ride alot in deep water and I've heard alot about the 660 not liking water. With the 650 you can still hang with the sporty 2wd's with no problem. Its great at fast trail riding. Whatever you get have a great time! DennisC

u should check out the Polaris Sportsmans. it has independent front and rear suspension. my dad is looking to get a big utility and he is definitely going with polaris. my friends dad is also looking to get a utility and he test rode the kodiak, the vinson, the p650, and the polaris. he said after testing the sportsman, he couldnt even consider the other utilities that he tested.

I do a lot of medium speed riding, but want to be able to get it going good when needed. How are the two for wheelies(over logs, etc.). My other concern someone mentioned is that the Griz is way easier to tip over. How easy is it to tip over these quads? I've ruled out the SP600 myself, simply due to its extra weight. One other thing I thought of is that since I plan to keep whichever one I buy for a long time, the P650 will need twice the parts.

I have experience with both machines and I would go with the Grizzly. I think the Grizzly is a better all around machine. If your into fast trail riding get a Prairie, but if you like mud and rocks and more technical stuff i'd go with the Grizzly. Yes the Grizzly is a bit tippier is fast corning, but if you stiffen up the rear shocks you can keep up with anyone just fine. I also like the Yamaha belt system much better.
