Just curious if someone could reiterate on the axle issue with the DS650. I heard something along the lines of improper torque settings to replacement parts needed.

I just bought my DS in Sarnia Ontario (bout $600 cheaper than here in the states) especially with our dollar being worth so much. Anyhow, the dealer is very wary about telling me any of the issues with the bike.

Anyone?

Hi
How did you like your New DS650?
I am thinking about buying one.
Where did you buy yours for 600 dollars cheaper?
Enjoy your new DS650.

The axle locking nut was loose on some of the first production run DS 650's, if you have a first run DS then all it needs is to be tightened and locked(this is a top of the line locking system, take a look at other production quads.). Before every ride be it a new quad or old quad you should look everything over, checking for things coming loose. The DS is built to last, but preventive maintenance is a must on any quad.

It was purchased from Precision Power Sports in Sarnia, Ontario. If you are seriously considering one, I suggest you hurry, they have only one left and the 2001 model will not be coming out till August sometime.

I bought it there for three reasons really, 1) Dealer closest to me didn't have any in stock, 2) Canadians are usually nicer than people in the states, 3) they just announced a price drop [in Canada only] the bike ended up costing me about $6399 US funds. Also, because I'm a Michigan resident I don't pay any taxes in Canada! No provintial or GST. If I were to have bought it here in the states, it would have cost me over $7000. If you look at Bombardier's webpage you can find a dealer nearest you, I do believe they're 3 total in Canada, near Michigan at least. www.bombardier-atv.com search for a dealer either in Sarnia or Windsor.

Here is the dealer's info I bought mine at:

Precision Power Sports
1762 London Rd.
Sarnia, ON N7T7H2CA
PHONE: 519-541-1802

Regarding how do I like it, I'm still waiting for the Dealer to fix the axle and airbox issues. Hopefully I'll be picking it up Monday afternoon. I'll post as soon as I try it out!

Plus, be aware that tightening the locking nut, you must turn it COUNTER-clockwise, away from the brake rotor.

I didn't find this out until after returning from a day trip after 1/2 an hour of riding. Fours hours of round trip! I could've rode another five hours or so if I had turned it the proper way. I am so used to Jap bikes! Crazy Canadians! Though, I must admit that it does seem to be a great system, once you get past that quirk.
