Hello,
I have recently bought my two boys a quad (LT80/KFX80) and was wondering what the best mods are.
I want to put paddles on soon but probably need to juce them up a little first.
Thanks

As for juicing it up see LT80 on this forum. Doing individual mods one at a time will not give you anything like getting a complete power setup from one person, in fact you will end up wasting money and having a bunch of mods that aren't effective. Believe me I researched the heck out of this. The integration of porting, clutch mods, reeds all done in relation to one another is the way to go. LT80 is the best, he specializes on your model. Contact him, he is very reasonable too.

The first (and free) mod you should do is a front clutch mod, remove 2 of the 6 weights and it will make the engine stay in the power band a lot better, with just that mod on my son's stock LT80 ( I took 3 out,but most will tell you to leave 4 in) it revved a lot better, and would spin the tires all the up a hill. Like the others have stated, LT80 is a real good modder for this little quad,he races them and does all his own work. But for now,do the free clutch mod, and you will notice a difference right away.

Don't spend your money on any mods other than a port and clutch job from LT80. I have a motor done by Jack, and with standard carb and pipe, it smokes all the other 80's easily. Trust us on this... several others will testify to the worth of a good port job on this quad!

How difficult is it to remove two of the weights from the front clutch?
Can I figure it out without a manual?

It is a lil time consuming, but easily figured out.
Remove the rear plastic.Remove the 4 footpeg bolts and pull them UP out of the way.Remove the side cover(dont forget the bolt at the 3 o'clock position where the pull start would go)
You will need an impact wrench for the front clutch nut.
When installing, use grease to keep the rollers in place. ALSO make SURE that the lil keyway is ligned up (you'll see) then put it back together.
