removal of airbox
#2
First off, i don't see why you have to remove the air box, the ait filter goes inside of it, if i remember right, so there hsould be no reason to take it off. Anyway, it should be removable and be able to be put back into place without any mods

I would not remove the air box because when all your friends are riding in the rain or wet ara you will be sitting on the trailer whishing u had an air box. When the filter gets wet the motor will start to miss so just shut it down and wait another dry day

If your stil running the stock carb there should'nt be any reason for you to remove the airbox.
If you go up to a 42mm you can, then run a K&N RU1770 (6" angled filtercharger, w/a prefilter), but as stated above stay awat from water. I run a 39PWK on my 400 and use a K&N w/o the airbox. But, you limit yourself on the types of terrain/conditions you can ride in.
