Default Scrambler 500 Tire Size?? 20" for better low end?

My Father-in-law has a Scrambler 500 4x4 and wants to get more low-end out of it and better acceleration out of the hole. He wondering if dropping the tire size to 20" in the rear and 21" in the front will help. If so how much will he lose on the top? Very rarely to we do full speed runs, mostly trail riding so losing like 5mph on top shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Thanks

I tried 20's on my SC500 at one time and noticed very little difference in acceleration, not nearly enough to justify giving up the ground clearance. I always thought the 500 had plenty of bottom-end, but if I were going to try to increase it I would add a primary spring with a little more stall than stock and go a little heavier on the weights for a better holeshot. I believe I used to use the Polaris orange primary with 55g weights on the 500.
