Default Thinking about a Trail Blazer 250...

We need a quad that my son can grow into over the next year that is big enough for my wife to ride in the meantime. My son rides a Sportsman 90 that we will pass down to our daughter. I like the fact that it has floorboards like the Sportsman and has FWD/REV.

My main concern is the 2000 at the local dealership has a new transmission in it and I saw another trans advertised on eBay. Are these prone to tranny problems? It looks like the perfect fit for us, but I don't want to buy a lemon. Are there any other issues I should be concerned about?

I had a 00 TB that I just traded for a YZ 125 dirt bike for my son!
He ran the dirt bike into a tree and broke his leg! OUCH
My 00 TB was solid no problems at all with the tranny or anything
else. I would say that the one you are looking at probably broke
a chain that broke the case. So get a chain tensioner from HPD
or Hotseat Performance. That should solve the chain problem.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear they are relatively trouble free. I'm gonna go ahead and get it. I just need to sell a couple of the musical instruments I never play and I'll have the $$.

the only problem we ever saw on our 2000 is the steering stem lower bushing. The rivets can break loose. There is a conversion kit.

Bing, where can I get a conversion kit. I have a 2000 trail boss with the steering bushing rivets wobbling out.

Thanks ncscrambler!

those damn rivets can leave you frustrated on the trail.

as wide and heavy as the polarises are,,,a lot of pressure gets put on those sorry azz rivets. The re-engeineered unit is sweet. Billet aluminum, with stainless bolts ( a little drilling needed). At least thats the kind I built for myself. The hpd kit is similar. I made mine 1st though...

I had a 2000 trailblazer. I got it when i was 12 so i dont think its going to be too much for anyone that has ridden before. I loved it, just wanted fourwheel drive. But it was my first machine, lots of fun and easy to handle.
