Default what can cause a Banshee to have problems shifting?

My buddy is having problems with his Banshee shifting under WOT. Usually 4,5,and 6th gears. He pulls up on the shift but it doesn't shift. If he keeps pulling on it 3-4 times it eventually shift up. I'm tired of him making excuses as to why my Raptor beat him, so help me help him. I imagine something is bent or worn, but what? It has a ton of hours, and hard abuse on this bike's original tranny.

Sounds like a typical banshee. My guess it the adjuster under the clutch basket should be adjusted. Also, modifying your shift star helps. I would miss shifts alll the time before modifying the star. I have yet to miss one since.

Alky is probably right. Under the clutch basket is the shift star and the shift adjuster sets how the shifter catches the pegs on the shift star. I had a similar problem where it wouldn't shift out of 3rd gear at WOT - I had to shift 2 or 3 times before it would go. My problem was that shifter wasn't catching the pegs on the shift star properly, I bent the shift "things" so they caught the pegs better and it has been perfect (for a banshee) ever since. If you pull the clutch cover you can look behind the clutch basket and see what I'm talking about - run it through the gears and notice how the whole thing works and it will make more sense.
