Default Wellsville-store caters to riders

Just thought I would let all you Wellsville, Yellow Creek riders know that the little store in downtown Wellsville will be reopening sometime in May. The store is under new ownership and will be called the Pit Stop Mini Mart and they are planning on catering to the folks who ride at the "Pits". They are putting in a drive-thru window, hot foods, plenty of beer and ice of course and they are dedicating an aisle for riding supplies.......such as oil, tire plugs, etc.....

One of the owners is a councilman for Wellsville (as well as I) and has been keeping me informed as to the progress. I will keep you posted as to when it will open.

Hang on to your wheels Vforcer.......I am working on that as well. I was discussing a possible special permit, with other council members, that riders could purchase through the village to be able to ride on the roads, so that they may come into town. Of course, we would have to make sure all riders abide by the laws, such as speed limits, etc.....

When the time is right, it will be something I propose.

It all sounds good to me. I ride at Wellsville almost every weekend. My friends and I have been talking about going to the Saline Township meeting and proposing a permit for road crossing and minimal road riding. I think that they don't realize the money they could recieve from this untapped resource. I agree with the obeying of speed limits and believe that helmets should be mandatory, especially for road riding. I am glad to see people with political influence supporting ATV's.

Thanks Vforcer, for the support!

Drip,

I tried to convince council members, long before getting on council, but no luck. Now I am in a position to influence more. With a current council member having the ability to gain financially, I know I will have better luck. I have already talked to another who thinks the permit will be a great idea and realizes that Yellowcreek is a "goldmine". He also has a cousin who is on council...........counting me, that would be 4 votes, all that is needed to pass a vote. I have also been talking to our fire dept. and volunteers about sponsoring an ATV rodeo. We just need to find a location to do it and find out the cost of insurance. Wellsville is currently under fiscal emergency, funds are minimal, but we have to find other ways to generate more revenue in our town. Folks who ride and business owners realize the importance of the yellowcreek riders. We have no control of the riding area, it is out of our jurisdication and the land is privately owned, but we can capitalize on the riders who patron our town and I think both can be accomidated well.
