Default Motor oil? Good? Bads? Help!

Well my question here is about motor oils for a Raptor. For hot summer riding what is the best to use? Also, just basically your ideas of different oil makes and which work for the best for you, trying to get the best for the rappy, any info appreciated,

Patrick

what about filters? Is there a difference between stock and K&N? Never really looked in K&N's filters before,

I change my oil and filter quite regularly so I just buy the Fram type filters.

I would go with the scotts oil filter it is reusable. It will pay for its self over time.

mobil mx4t and bosch 3300 from autozone. fram is terrible because its bypass valve uses CARDBOARD!!!!, bosch has semi-synthetic media and costs $5.95. Mobil MX4t is made for wet clutches and works great!

yamalube 10/30 but may try valvoline atv next change. i change it often and use ac filter, its a little longer than factory and half the cost.
more filter, less bucks, plus it's blue like the quad. cheap insurance. just dont use car oil. have fun!

isn't 10-30 for colder weather? Someone told me I should use 20-50 for summer riding? What should I use?

oh you might go to 10/40. i dont know about 20/50, thats pretty thick. and oils are much better and thinner than they used to be.
look at yer owners manual [under the seat] since i dont know what your climate is like. you're a hair south of us on the globe, but we're up in the mountains...
you want the most lubrication and the least amount of drag..see what the chart tells you, and maybe what other folks are using.
have fun!
