Im a 15 year old and i want to buy a used quad. I've looked at the Z/KFX400 new but I can't find any used. Now im looking a a Banshee used thats in my area. Is it to fast for a beginer or should a go for something a little tamer?

How tall are you and how much do you weigh! The banshees have a throttle limiter on it so it should not scare you. But they are fast quads and you have to learn to respect that, because it can kill you.

The question isnt size, its experience.
How long have you been riding?
Do you have someone you know that rides that can teach you?
Where are you going to be riding, what kinds of places?
Do you have the ability to control a 50rwhp lightswitch powerbanded beast?
Its understandable that you cant find a used z, they have only been out a year and a half. If you want a used sport quad, go with a honda 400ex. Lots of power, best handling, very durable and very upgradeable. Not to mention pretty cheap at 3k for most.
Yes, i know the shee is only 37rwhp when stock, but you dont find many used stockers out there. With a pipe and filter you can bump up the hp at least 5, plus other minor mods.

you might be best off to work up to the 'shee. it's a highly specialized quad and its a rocket. it's also gonna take more attention to detail than yer average z400 type of quad. hence i suggest you work up to it. and wear that helmet!

No matter what you do unless you get a new or used FIRST AND FOREMOST go to a atv saftey course . IT will help to teach you !!! no doubt when i went to the advanced class there were racers there and after they will even tell you how much it helps ! Wear the nogging block it does help with the unforseen crash .
Now a used shee will run and run some more IF the quad was taken care of meticusly i've seen a few out there just straight up trashed run like crap and all ,kids dont know how to tend to a 2 stroke it takes MONEY and TIME and their parents are just getting them something to get out of their hair . it's ashame but so true . NOW if you get a decent machine expect to pay a bit more though you will get reciepts and someone who knows their machine in and out .
Honda 400ex Man that there has so much potential also it's unbelievable just like the shee so many aftermarket parts . the motor is so reliable thats why it hasent changed in like forever except plastic colors LOL .
What ever you do Respect the Ride and Environment around you .
Enjoy

I would not get the banshee until you get some experience under your belt and you know what the needs of a 2 stroke are, like maddog56 said a 400ex would be a great quad and the stuff you can do it is everlasting,

I agree with the others. A banshee probably isn't a good choice right now. Another bike to consider is a used Warrior. Very dependable and your not nearly as likely to end up wrapped around a tree somewhere.

Banshee's are awesome, soooo much power. I started out riding my friends blaster and last year i got a bansee. The 2 strokes are hard to take care of. And when the aftermarket parts are on it, it gives it much more hp. They are awesome quads tho. If your too small then dont go getting a quad that u cant handle or wont. Its not worth the extra power if you cant use it. My advise is to get a TRX250R there fast but smaller than the banshee. I wouldnt suggest a 400ex like everbody else is saying read the reviews on all the 4 strokes, the 400 usually comes in last or close to last. If you got the cash i would start on a blaster, then move to a warrior and then to a banshee. Its your decisions tho. I didnt care what everybody else said now im winning my races at the course i race.

I'm 15, about 5'8 and 115lbs, and ride a 686 Raptor. At first, I had a Scrambler 400, and it was a nice quad, but I needed to go faster, so I bought the Raptor. Don't worry if you don't have experience, just learn. My first Manual clutch/shift quad was a DS650, that's what I learned on, you don't have to learn on a 250ex or something.
