Where the 94-97 400 explorer's and express's 2-strokes or 4? If they were 2-strokes is this the same engine they put in the scrambler's?
Thanks for any help.

They were liquid cooled 2 strokes, and they were great machines. The only difference between the two was that the Xplorer was 4wd and the Xpress was 2wd. That 400 2 stroke motor rocked, its such a shame that they only have one model left in their lineup with that motor (Trail Blazer 400). I'd be willing to bet that motor will disappear within a year or two since everyone is pushing 4 strokes.

Used to have a 95 Xpress that with a little mild 'tweaking' would do about 70.
Not bad for a utility machine, even though it was a 2wd.

2 stroke
Not quite the same as the scrambler.
Xplore has a 200 watt alternator
Scrambler only has a 150 watt alternator
Recoil starter pull rope is in a different location
Other than that they are the same
