Default ac 2001 250 2x4 stalling problems

I just bought a 2001 arctic cat 250 2x4. So far the 2 times I have taken it out it has gone every place I wanted to go and kept up with my buddies quads. The problem Im having is it stalls going down steep hills. Going up or just plain idling its fine runs great. Any one have any ideas? or info on the mikuni carb? I dont have a manual for this. Thanks.

i have also got a 2001 250 2x4 and it runs awsome. it will idle great, awsome up hills but it also will always stall down a hill, and this ruins everything becasue u ahve to be in neutral and it is a b&%c# to try and get in neutral on a hill. i am very much agreeing with u and reply back if posible

I would expect a float level problem, either to high or to low (I think to high, but like to cover my bets). You can check it by pulling the carb and removing the float bowl. The float should be 1/2" higher with the carb upside down. Measure from the flange the bowl fits to to the top of the float (actually the bottom if the carb was up side down). Also you need to check the idle speed, should be 1400 to 1600 rpms and i prefer 1600. My 250 2X4 didn't have an idle problem, just a piece missing off the needle in the slide, letting the engine run very rich at part throttle. $1.50 part that someone left out. Usually people sell used rigs because they can't figure out what's wrong with them. We kept the 250 when I stepped up to a 400 so the wife now has her own to ride.

we took out the card and when we opened the float bowl and a washer fell out...wtf. it was a little bit dirty and we still have no idea where it came from. we opened the card because it was not running good and we thought the choke was stuck halfway and we also couldnt get the choke to do anything when we opened the side. so, we eventually brought it to a mechanic and the intake valve was to tight. we havent had any problems since, even riding it in 10 degree waether in snow and ice. we still dont know where the washer goes. have u ever seen this happen before???? reply back soon with any info u ahve about this problem

Thanks for the reply. I dont have the cat anymore. I sold it and bought a 99 polaris sport 400. How ever i did just purchase a 87 suzuki lt4wd 250 4x4. It has the same engine as the cat. I need to rebuild the starter and get a battery for it. Im doing the rear seals this week for the axle.

Im in western Mass. Keep in touch maybe we can ride sometime.

Bob

Suzuki uses different carbs than AC, usually smaller, read as less powerful.
