Best way to SnakeHunt from 35 South?
#1
I have 2 mapping programs that give me 2 directions...
1) Take the exit for 412/64 then take 281 north to Wayoka.
2) Take the 81 exit just north of the Ok Border in South Haven then follow that until it hits 412/64.
My guess is the first is easyer.. Whats the BEST/Fastest way?

Which roads are you taking through Kansas?
It just doesn't seem right to be coming from Wisconsin and have to go north to get somewhere in Oklahoma.
If you'll be coming down 135 into Wichita, there's a bypass hwy around the city that will take you from 135 to highway 2 which runs diagonally and eventually hits 281 after going through Harper, Anthony, Kiowa, and some other towns. 2 is a pretty good road, and probably the fastest way. Once you're on 281 south of Alva, you can't miss the dunes.
If you'll be on 35 south of Wichita (which I would avoid-- toll road and I'm a tighta$$) I'd take the exit where it crosses KS166. Go west to Caldwell, then head south until the junction with 11 at Medford. 11 west will become 64 which will take you into Alva where it meets 281.
For the most part, all of the roads run square and it's pretty easy to find your way around that part of Oklahoma. There are all kinds of dirt road "shortcuts," just don't try any of them on an almost empty gas tank like I did.

If cash is no object, take the most direct two-lane roads, put the hammer down, and pay the ticket if you happen to get one.
Seriously though, the routes I described would be my #1 and #2 choices. They'll shave the most miles. I think those two-lanes are mostly 65mph roads, so you can go 70.

Bigben is right,
From witchita, take his directions tru the Kansas county side. I think it is 2 hours from Witchita his way. It will probably be 3hours+ the other way through the turnpike, and then thru Enid,OK etc.
See you there!!

The first route is the one I'll be taking. I think it's the shortest.
