Where's the needle jet located?
#1
Hey,
basically what the topic stated. i've adjusted the air screw, and have a bigger main jet. now i want to drop the clip on the needle jet one position and see how that works. i took about the float bowl but didn't see anything that i thought might be the needle jet. so where's it located?
thanks,

Hey,
thanks. i'm going to do this tomorrow afternoon. we'll see how it goes.
sometimes around 1/4 throttle it seems to "hiccup". would that be a sign of leaness?
also, i turned the air screw 1.5 turns out. now when i turn the motor off, there's a soft pop about 1sec after the motor dies. does that have any indication towards jetting condition?
thanks,

Hey,
the hiccup happens when i'm just cruising around at 1/4 throttle. it's not a bad hiccup but it's there. the idle also seems to serge a little sometimes. ideas?
i'm going to go play with the jet needle now. wish me luck.

Hey,
alright, i still can't find it. here's the deal. i don't have a plastic cover on top.
what i do have:
a black plastic cover where the throttle lenkage is, on the left side of the carb
a brass plate on the top of the carb held on by three screws
and a white plastic cap with a spring under it on the right hand side held on by three carbs.
so which one should i take off, and how can i ID the needle jet? i've taken off all three and didn't see whati thought was a needle jet.
thanks,
bigmac

actually you're looking for the jet needle, which rides up and down inside the needle jet. take the cap off of the very top of the carb, and then you can pull the slide right out. the needle is down a hole in the center of the slide.

Hey,
hightower - ok, that sounds familar. i remember the slide. even though it's almost midnight, i may go try that now. lol
i'm going to a buddies place tomorrow and i'm finally going to get to go riding (doing laps around the yard is getting old, lol). hopefully i'll be able to get the jetting dialed in also.
thanks,

Hey,
how do you get the slide out? it's attached to a lever arm to raises it up and down according to the throttle position. how does the slide disconnect from that lever arm? help in a hurry would be great.

once you take the top off the carb there should be an allen screw that keeps a hold down in place, loosen the screw and slide the hold down to the side, that is what holds the needle down then simply pull the needle up out of the carb if you hold the throttle wide open it will raise it up so you can get to it easier also
