WHEN MY TAIL PIPE HITS WATER
#1
IT KILLS THE POWER! AS SOON AS IT IS OUT I REGAIN IT. IT WILL START SPUTTERING REAL BAD AND ALMOST DIES,BUT AS SOON AS IT IS OUT IT WILL CLEAR UP AND RUN FINE. WHY IS THIS?
ALSO CAN I JUST SNORKEL THE TAIL PIPE ABOUT 6 INCHES AND NOT HAVE TO REJET?
THANKS

Cat,are you sure that the plug wire is not your problem..It sounds like you are in deep enough water to get the wire wet..Try putting some Di-Electrical grease in the plug wire and I'm almost positive this will cure your problem!

Thats kinda strange Cat..Does your bike idle low?If so try idling it up a lil bit..And yes you can add a exhaust snorkel without having to re-jet.You may only have to re-jet after snorkeling the air intake!

My cousin has the 500i and his muffler was loose at the clamps near the back just before the muffler...was giving him all kinds of grief, try tightening those, his keep loosening too so might have to watch them ;-)

Every bike Ive owned does the same thing, Ive gotten to where I take them to the muffler shop on the way home from the dealership as soon as I buy them now. I take them home, snorkel, lift and whatever before it ever gets dirty. Its alot easier when everythings clean and fresh.
Polaris SP500HO, 2 - Honda 450ES, Grizz600, Big Bear, Cat500i, ALL have done the same thing in deep water. The Hondas were the worst out of the bunch (smallest engine). Theres not enough back pressure to keep the water out of the muffler.
