March 15th the connecting rod went through the cases, today it's running again. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] It's now got a new 102mm 11:1 Je piston, the same stage 1 hotcam, Craycraft port and polish and 3 angle valve job, stock valves. New cases, new crank, new cylinder, several new case bearings, new timing chain, new one way bearing, GYTR clutch, new intake boots, clean oil strainer, new oil seal, gaskets etc. probably leaving out some stuff.

Rode it up and down the street several times to make sure everything works. No drips, no leaks, no errors. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] It runs stronger than it did with the stock bore 11:1 and cam but I'll be able to tell better when I can get it out and run it harder. I'm glad this phase is behind me, it was fun doing the work myself, but I hope I don't have to do it again.

I have to thank some people.

1. My mother, without her loan I wouldn't have it running for a while.
2. Bob Craycraft, without his help I would have spent a lot more to get it fixed.
3. Mike from Raptortranny.com, without his website I could not have done this job. I had to tear this engine down completely, I mean completely, there was nothing left to it. His website saved me probably $1200 in labor costs.
4. Everyone on here who posts useful information.

What rod did you end up with? And which oil strainer did you clean?

New stock crank. Not rebuilt. And the oil strainer inside the cases. I took it apart and cleaned it out. It was at least 1/5 clogged with yamabond. I didn't go with the carrillo rod for various reasons. It was my belief that the semi clogged oil stariner and lack of piston to wall clearance was the root cause of my rod failure. Time will tell.

Took it out for a couple hours today. Up in our local mountains. Everything ran perfectly. I was a tad rich for the almost 4000' elevation but I don't ride up there that much anyway. Sure does feel good to be riding my quad again. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
