Default Jetting question for the experts

I know you guys are probably tired of awnsering jetting questions but .... all I have is a Biggun complete Race exhaust system with my airbox snorkel flaps trimmed out and factory filter. I have recently talked to a couple of bike shops that seem to think I do not need to rejet cause it will not make a difference, but from reading some of your past posts and past experience I really question what some of these " so called mechanics " I have been talking to really know.

The Elevation that I am at is 2300 feet above sea level. If any of you guys can give me an idea of where to start with my jetting ( sizes and make ... dynojet ??), or if any one is running similar set up that works well I would appriciate your 2 cents.

Have you put the pipe on yet?How does it run if so? If it is popping and snapping that means you are lean.Keep us posted. This is where I learned how to do everything on my bike so far.Try a search too. Just type in Jetting or Jets you'll get alot of posts.

Hey Shmoo, the pipe is on and it runs fairly good but it feels like it is holding back a little , my throttle response could definatly be better. I was going to try 155/160 jets to start with and see how the plug looks and how it performs.

Default Jetting question for the experts

I just got off the phone with one of the techs at biggun exhaust in California who was very helpful ( 909 - 483 - 8309 ) and he told me if I run 155/160 mains and 27.5 pilots with the elevation that I am at , I should be running right on the money. I guess I will find out tommorrow .

I called them and they gave me the run down too and were way off. They told me the same as you and it didn't run right till the lid was off then I went up 1 size on the mains to dial it in.The 27.5's will be too rich. Go with the 25's. Try the 155/160 but if your running with the lid on my guess is you might go down to 150/155.If you don't ride in super muddy conditions I'd go with the lid off to optimize power. Get yourself a Pro Design air filter before going no lid.Your air/fuel mixture should be the same as mine 2 3/4 turns out Left and 3 Turns out Right. Let me know how she runs when your done.Oh yeah, your stock needles are fine in the stock clip position(3rd slot).

Hey I was just wondering Shmoo what elevation are you at .. same or close to what I am ?? and how much of a difference did jetting really make with your quads performance.

i'm no expert but just as a general rule you should start rich and then work you way down till it runs good. a good way to check to to run it for a little while get it hot then check the plugs. if there dark brown or black then your rich. if they are white or light then its lean. and just as another general rule its better to be rich then lean becuase lean can hurt the motor a lot more then rich. good luck figuring it out and i'll leave it to the experts for the rest. just thought id through in my 2cents

I would get the GYTR jet kit it comes with the jets you need including 25 pilots and better needles. 150/155 sounds about right if you run with your air box and lid the way it is.
