Just curious if anyone here owns or has rode a Polaris Scrambler? Horror stories? Good / Bad experience? Ease of maintanence? Etc?

My friend is considering buying one and I told him I'd find out as much as possible.

My opinion of the Scrambler is that it is the most complete quad made. It has the capabilities to do most things that any other quad can do.
It is sporty enough to ride with the sport quads and with the four wheel drive models you can ride with the utilities. With mine I have spent part of the day racing, part of the day mudding and then hook to a trailer and use it for work, not many quads can claim that.

Oh...no problems here other than general maintenance.

I have a scrambler and have been having many problems. I have many miles on it and they are pure beat miles. I heard the newer ones are much more dependable.

I've only had my 400 2X4 a couple of weeks, but I really enjoy riding mine. I've already thrown some mods on mine ( see the RCR vs. HPD RESULTS post ) and it's plenty fast now. The 400 is easy to work on and is very easy to coax power from. The PVT is also easily tuned to get good results. PLUS IT HAS REVERSE !!!!!!

my buddy has a scrambler 500 4x4. his grip with it is the weight (as with all polaris quads). he bought it for trail riding and racing. hes put a few mods on it, and it is FAST!!!!!!!!! he had a wolverine b-4 the scrambler. perfered the wolvrine because it was more nimble.

he loves the speed of it, (out runs dirt bikes all the time) and the cheap parts (hes replced the stearing column, pin throught the lower a-arm (don't remeber the name of it), handle bars, etc,etc,etc,etc.....all because of wrecks

he's waiting for the suzuki or yamaha sport quads to come out. he wants a two-wheel drive deamon.

Just traded in my TrailBlazer for a Scrambler 400 2X4. This thing rocks. Love it, flipped it within 10 hours of owning it. I rode the Blazer for a whole year and didn't flip it once! Good in the mud too!

I sold my 96 sportsman 6 weeks ago and bought a new 500 scrambler. I love it. I have put a clutch kit in it from hot seat so far. It will go anywhere. Saturday my wife got on back and we rode trails up on the mountian and then I took it to an old stip mine. I used to climb the high wall on my husky 430 and wondered if my quad would do it. After argueing with my wife about it I climbed it. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Well have had no prblems with my Scrambler 500 2000.
Fast enough for me.........67mph been clocked stock
Good in the mud............yes
Good on the trails.........yes (a little heavy)
Good on hills..............yes just puch it and hang on
Upkeep ........not that hard just grease every couple of rides if in the water and oil the chain
if you are not willing too do that on a new bike maybe your friend should consider a Honda But I would not trade my bike for another brand because it has everything I wanted in a bike (except the wieght)But I can live with that
Have a good one

I have a '00 Scrambler 500 and it is awesome. The only problem I have had with it was a voltage regulater which the dealership took care of immedeatly. It is alot faster than my sportsmam 500. I am thinking of putting some aftermarket parts on it and my sportsman, I just cant decide which ones.

I love my 00' Scrambler 400. It is the perfect ATV for me. The guys I ride with have every type of ATV on the market. I have no complaints about my 400. It climbs great, handles mud, and is about the fastest thing around. It really is a good all around ATV. I will be doing some mods soon so, I look to make a great ATV even better.
