Hey everyone,
I took my 99 Wolv to the shop to get the carb adjusted one last time. For those of you who don't know the saga I installed a dynojet kit, pro-flo filter and removed the airbox lid. It ran like crap and they claimed they couldn't get it to run right because it needed better exhaust flow. So I bought the FMF pipe for it. Now let's see what they can do. When I dropped it off the mechanic said he wanted the stock filter and airbox lid back, and I didn't really wonder why until later on. Is the proflo with the open lid sucking in too much air? What would you do if you were me....I already spent the $$$ on the pro-flo and I like the power increase with the open lid....but it runs like %!@#%....anyone?

Sucking in too much air??? Isnt that the idea???
What kind of mechanic you got bangin on that poor machine. Your first problem is that Dyno jet kit junk. A stock jet is only $4. First of all we need to know exactly how the bike is running. Sounds like your jetting is way off. Is there any black smoke out the exaust???

Chances are your bike was running lean with your new setup. I have the exact same intake mods on my bike and it rips. The dynojet kit does work on 96 and up bikes, but are junk for the 95 as Thumper 4x4 explained. This is due to the different style carb the 95 uses. At least this is what I can gather from users of the jet kit with the 95 carb. I run a 147.5 main, needle in second groove from top, stock pilot, 2.5 turns out on air screw. The thing doesnt miss, or backfire on decelleration, and the plug is a nice light brown. It will pop and miss if lean with white/gray plug. Black soot on plug and pipe with lack of power if too rich. Keep in mind evey bike is different. What may work for one, may not work for another. Its a process of trial and error. Your mechanic...well lets just say he sounds a bit questionable.

Yeah you're right there, I thought I took it to a better mechanic, he's not done yet so I'll hold judgement, anyhow yes the bike is having some soot, it's not real noticable but the end of the FMF pipe is turning black so that's an indicator huh.....right now the bike won't idle worth crap, whenever I try to go into low range to climb something or whatever it will usually spit, sputter, gasp for air and stall. I installed the 155 main jet, but I ordered a 145, 147.5 and 150 from Dynojet today because the mechanic requested the assortment that came with the kit and my last mechanic can't find them, imagine that...what do you think?

Yeah see that's what I thought, it seemed to be running hotter than usual so I thought it was lean, but then again the end of the FMF pipe had a black charred look to it....wonder what I can use to clean that off....think I need to rejet?

to lean on the bottom, too rich on top, I too run a 147.5 on top with no other changes, proflo kit, and procircuit pipe no problems, and very little soot

When I put my intake mods in, I too started with a 155 main. It made the pipe black at the plug was black. WAY TOO RICH!! As for the idle problem, that has nothing to do with the main jet. That would be the idle circuit. I doubt you need a larger pilot jet. Turn the mixture screw out (not the idle screw) in 1/4 turns to smooth the idle. If you ned more than 5 or 6 turns, get the next size larger pilot, turn the screw all the way in, then back it out two turns, then do the 1/4 turn out thing again. As for the soot on the pipe, I used a good brass/silver polish to remove it. Looks like new now.
