How many of you are running the 12/42 combo on your 02/03 Raptors? I have a 12 tooth front sprocket and it seems to have geered me down a little to much. Would I benifit by going to 42 rear or does it make tha much difference from stock. thanks

13/40 here.

The 12t was a hot ticket on the 2001, I couldnt see gearing down to 12t now with 2002 gears.

if you put the 42 on the back that will gear it down worse..........
I would go with the 13/42

I have an 03....with full LRD, pro design intake and twin air filter and just put on a 14/40 (had to take case saver off). I work at a dealer so I found an old 5 dollar JT sproket that was for an older YZ400 or MX soemthing or other and ith as the same splines. if you have mods like this I definitley recommend it. the top end rush this quad has now is amazing. it just kept pulling. I had 12-40 for the longest time and just did it for fun....best 5 bucks I spent. Id rather get a 13/37 goin or 38 so I can put my case saver back on but for now it is staying.

I am running the 12 tooth on the front with the 42 on the rear and I mainly go to the dunes, really torquey but awesome for climbing...

i run whatever is stock EXCEPT i went down one on the front to compensate for the 22" XCTs. seems to work fine to me.

i did the opposite on the blaster when i changed to 20 XCRs on the back...it goes fast enuf, and i dont have to fry the clutch to go slow...
