Whats The Best Sport Quad For A Gravel Pit?
#1
Hi, My best friends dad owns a gravel pit and and so we go riding all the time there. I am trying to sell my rancher, and once I do I am going to look for a "Project quad" thats in pretty good shape. I am training myself in to work on atv's for my friends, and eventualy get into something bigger, so would like somthing to tear down and work on, since I have the time. I wont have too much money to spend right away about (2000) but will be getting around 200+ - a month so I could wait.
ANYWAY I will be riding with two blasters and would like something so I could just kill them . Ill be doing small-medium jumps and hills so would like somthing that handles good
Any suggestions are welcome,
Thanks
Mark

I ride my Predator, wife rides a 300ex, both do fine in gravel pits. We see a lot of Raptors and 400ex's as well. It's more a question of what you (and your budget) are comfortable with. Will you be riding anywhere else?

Thanks for all the replies wow I think I decided, but Ill answer all you first, so racerx5x5 I was thinking about a lt250 and still am considering, Hwy glad to see a minnesotan Duluth is a really nice place, been there alot however we live in so. MN now so dont get up there to much anymore. What tires do you recomend for pits and how come you dont have your banshee anymore??raptor I think its a little out of my price range, but thanks anyways.Pechmial wow another MN'n havn't been to New Hope though how is that predator doing, my other friend just bought one last Nov and I havn't even seen it yet, and no I dont think Ill ride too many other places besides the pit, maybe a couple trails through the woods.
OK I am pretty interested in the 400ex, there is a 2000 that they say runs good but the plastic is cracked so I would want new plastic, I saw maier has zest orange how would that look on an ex? Oh and they want $1800 for it. the only thing I worry about is if it would keep up with that piped Blaster.
Sorry so long

The Predator is great. Only got it a few weeks ago (switching from the utility world) so I am still taking it a little easy (small jumps, etc). Need to get nerf bars for it and a little more guts for me before I press it too much. I'll hopefully be taking it on trails for the first time this coming weekend so I don't know how it fairs there. We've only used it down at Tri County ATV park so far.
The 400ex sounds like an excellent deal. I'd go for that if I was you. Heck, I'd go for it myself if I had the money!! I bet the orange plastic would look sweet on it. We see many 400ex's at Tri County, that and Raptors seem to be the most popular.

i mostly ride pits and i just bought a 400ex. i love it. it's great in the pits i have no problem climbing 50+ foot hills and jumping off of the tops. i don't know for sure but i think it would beat a piped blaster stock. thats my recomendation. but i'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you end up getting.

The other day I saw a machine really tearing it up at some gravel pits. I don't know the model but it was made by a company called john deere.
Just kidding LazyHammer, I think all of the suggestions on the post were great ones..
