Default 2007 700 prowler slipping

My dad has a 2007 at prowler with about 5000 miles on it. When a person takes off it sounds like the belt is slipping and you have to rev it up to get it to get going and than you take off. You can go wide open and let off and it almost throws you in the ditch. I figured that out and it was the one way bearing and figured that was the culprit but it still stresses to take off. Now the kicker. If you put it in 4x4 it takes off no problem. Am I right to assume that the wet clutch needs to be rebuilt?
