my place of employment has a 01 300 4x4 that runs like crap. I have changed the plug cleaned the carb and put in fresh gas, yet it still runs like crap. It will start and warm up (sometimes) but when you get on it and get going it will hesitate and start to pulse about the time you hit 4th gear, then its alll down hill from there. This seems to be an intermitent problem. The machine has less than 200 miles on it and we need it to run good because we will be depending on it. If my 02 375 ran like that I would peddle it fast. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,check the float in the carb, and adjust the valves.(cold engine)

when you say cleaned the carb do yo mean spray carb cleaner through it from the breather line of did you remove the float bowl and vaccum cap?

if not remove those things mentioned and do some cleaning. also a possibiltyis you are getting air into it. check the main 3 inch hose comming from your carb to your motor head. This area tends to get holes in it due to debris getting trapped inbetween the c clamps,and as this hose pulsates the debris will pucture the hose.

Next thing would be was to check and see if your gas tank breather line is clogged. if this clogges or has trash in it restricting air,it will cause a problem like you mentioned.

next thing is check your float drian. turn the screw untill you witness gas not wqater running from the nipple. if no gas runns out,this is either clogged with mud/dirt or your carb is not getting air. if you are not getting air to the carb or if it starves for air. check along with the gas tank breath line the carb breather line. the little pink hose under your set.

Next thing check your actual fuel hose running from your gas on/off valve for holes and such.

when all these fail you may need to clean out a jet or adjust your jets and needle and air mixture


Also note these are not in order, DO the simplest first.
