I believe that the reason the motor sits so far back is for weight distibution. I was at my dealer last week and they were putting a 300 on the floor and I asked "where in the hell is the motor" it looked like there wasn't one. They then told me that kat does that for better weight dist. Not sure if this is true but that is what I was told, plus that is a small motor and doesn't take up as much room as a 400 or 500

My friends got a 300 and likes it. It's a good machine. The only problem I have with it is when you load it on a tilt trailer. Between the riders weight and the motor in the back-the trailer won't tip down once the machines on it. We have to back his 300 onto my trailer to get it to tip down.

The 250/300 engine trany and rear diff are all one unit. That is the main reason for the engine to be so far back.
When I looked at purchasing the 250, I was concerned that it would be really easy to flip. This is not the case. It is very well balanced and a Joy to ride. The only fall back I would say is the shift linkage. It is very long and gives a spongy feel compared to our other cats. We have had no problem with it just feels weird from what I am use to.

Before i looked at the arctic cat, I was Just about to buy a polaris trailblazer 250, but when i went to see it, it wouldnt start...And it looked a little small, i planned to use it for trail riding and riding on the powerlines by my house....but it doesnt have racks (i cant bring much with me) and its a sporty quad, i would rather have a utility quad.
I am going to look at the arctic cat on saturday, its a 2 hour drive from my house.
Here is a link to a picture of the quad....It looks a little rough. http://www.auctionadvantages.com/ATVs/atv215.htm

Well....Turns out i got a yamaha grizzly. It was way out of my budget, but my dads boss paid for nearly half of it.
