Default Good price?

I went and looked at a 500i manual the otherday and loved it. I asked the dealer what he had to have for it and he said $6,000 plus tax(6,420), original price was 6,649 plus tax. This dealer is an AC only dealer. I know most of you live in different parts of the country and even Canada, but does this seem like a fair price? The problem I have is that there aren't very many dealers in my part of the state and most of them are farming equipment dealers that happen to sell Cats. I'm more than a little tentative to buy from someone who's main business is not in the motorcycling insustry-should I be concerned about this? I didn't try and talk him down on the price because I wasn't going to buy that day. I will probably call the other places to find out their price-he said he would match it if it was lower.

i payed $8600 CDN for mine plus 14-1/2% sales tax.and it came with a winch and a helmet.. $6000 is a lot if it dosent come with a warrenty or winch. do the math on the exchange and see what it comes out to. i hope this helps. oh ya get him to throw in a helmet also. good luck.

doesn't seem like too bad of a deal to me, even without a winch or warrenty it doesn't seem bad. Maybe since the 2004's have been announced you could try to get a discount on a winch or maybe a deal on the extended warrenty. i paid about 6400 after tax, title, liscence and some other things like any accesories at cost for 6 months, and a couple free hats. I also traded in my sled for mine though and they gave me a lot for trade in for it, thats why i pretty much paid list price. worth every penny!

He told me this price after we had talked about the financing being offered which doesn't start until 7/01/03. As part of the new financing they are giving a 2 year warranty plus 4 years at 4.9% or 6 mos. same as cash and whatever % you qualify for. He may have shot me that price knowing I wasn't going to buy that day or because of the extended warranty. Either way I'm going to try and get him lower or get a helmet or something-never hurts to try. Would any of you guys be concerned about buying from a farm equipment shop?

i wouldn't worry about buying from a farm equipment dealer. I have a lot of friends that bought machines from places like that. When it comes to service though it seems like more often then not my friends take the machines elsewhere to get them fixed. The actual dealerships seem to know a lot more about the machines. For example my buddys polaris has a really loud squeeking coming out of the rear axle, the farm place told him "just buy the extended warrenty and don't worry about it until something breaks", that to me is unacceptable.

sounds like a fair deal to me i paid $7,000 for mine and i orderd it early in 2001 in november so i didn't get the bike till mid january but i got a winch and my set of outlaws and personaly articats are one of the if not the nicest bikes around i wouldn't worrie of much having to be fixed so the farm supplie dealer ship shouldn't be a poblem but only my 0.02

I just thought I'd give you guys an update. I called one of the farm equipment dealers and got their price, then I called the AC dealer and had him match it. Next Saturday(7/5/03) I'm going to pick it up. I've finally got the wife talked into it and will be paying $5,800 after tax for a new '03 500i manual with a 2 year warranty.
