good for you. then you can call my local dealer and tell them to get ready for some warrenty work cause im just doing it the way there macanic told to do it.and also the ac filter cleaner is the best cleaner for your foam filter. and if you follow the instrutions on the can you wont go wrong. and yes i know it say's to oil it after you clean it.Hey MINIMOTOR your name must be Willis then.

im sorry. i did not try to start somthing,i was just saying what my dealer's macanic said. i just dont think you calling us clowns was appropreate.i dont clame to be a small engine macanic. and my filter is not soaked with oil from the c c vent but it dose get a bit of lube from it. and if you check the filter after every ride you can tell if it's starting to get dirty and then you clean it with the ac filter cleaner. i've had dirt bike's my whole life and i've alway's oiled my filter after cleaning it, and i did it with my new cat also. but when i talked to the ac macanic he said it was not nessesary to oil it because the crank case vent would give it the nessesary oiling. so i was just doing it the way he said.

The problem with your line of reasoning is that Arctic Cat will warranty your machine not the mechanic!!! The mechanic may do the work on the bike but the warranty comes from the manufacture or their insurance company. If Arctic Cat found that you were at fault they can void the warranty!! Now if you were just doing what the mechanic told you then the dealer MAY pay the costs. (I highly doubt this would happen) I wouldn't put any trust in what a mechanic told me unless his name was explicitly spelled out on the warranty. Especially when he is stating things that I know from experience aren't true!!! You state that you have experience and have always oiled your filters. If you know that you are supposed to oil your filter and the manufatures says to oil the filter. Why take this mechanics word over what knowledge, experience, and the manufacture state to be true? Do you do everything your mechanic tells you?, even when it is against your own good sound knowledge and judgement???
Now for the filter getting enough oil from the vent. The fact that you would have to start your machine and ride it for ANY amount of time before enough oil can be blown up on the filter tells me that this idea doesn't work!!! In other words, how much dirt has already been sucked into your motor before the vent can properly oil the filter????

if the filter let the dirt rite through it then it wouldent be a filter now would it.every time i clean it i check the intake for dirt and it's cleen. now if the dirt was going through the filter and into the engine you would see some sing's of dirt or dust in there.but it's cleen. the filter on my honda 250xr is foam and very thin and if you dont oil it i beleve dirt will get through.but the ac filter is twice as thick and is a much beter filter and it keep's the dirt out very well. PS. the next time i clean it i'll oil it and see how it go's.

I take back the clown remark mudblaster(If you owned a Polaris you would be a clown). Mudblaster, ttaylor makes a good point on how you have oiled your dirtbike filter, and A/C recommends oiling the air filter, use your better judgement instead of listening to your A/C mechanic. I don't claim to be a great wrench either, but I do believe in listening to the manufactures service recommendations(most of the time). Anyway's I call a truce, were all on the same team here(A/C owners).
P.S. hope every one has a great 4th and my name is Jason.
