Default BELT DRIVE 650 FOR UTILITY

I do not know how the belt drives work but what i want to no is can the new 650 handle consistent hard working I know she,s gonna have lots of power to do the work but what about that belt can it handle extra heavy towing of logs out of the bush like I used to do with my 500i and never have to worry about anything I need your opinion especially from the guys that own the ac auto

I would stick with the manual 500i for that because you dont have to worry about burning up any belts, and the 5 speeds are a lot better for hard working/pulling.

Hey manmudcat,

I have a 500 auto that has never let me down....I pull logs, plow snow, mud, hill climb, trail ride and I have not had any problems with the belt. There is an occasional chirp or bark when you stop quick and accelerate, but that is because the clutch hasn't back-shifted quick enough before it is engaged....I put a little more preload on the clutch spring and have not experienced the bark.

As far as "burning the belt", I don't know of anyone who has fried an AC belt....unlike the polaris belt/clutch sheaves...the AC belt/clutch sheaves are under constant tension....unless you totally SWAMP your machine and water enters the housing, I doubt the belt will ever SLIP.

One nice thing about the auto is you are always in the POWER. You will love plowing with the auto!!

I hope that's a little reassuring.....

Don't worry about belt drives, use low range under 10mph & you'll never have a problem. Snowmachines are up to 172hp with a lot more rolling resistance with few problems, my 600 has 8000kms on original belt with very litle wear!!
