Noise from the pesky gas gauge!!!

ATVING, like I said, the one I saw was an automatic with a simple gas cap that had no guage in it. You might go to the parts desk at the dealer and order one. It wouldn't cost much, and would most likely fit. The only problem I see is that you may have to modify it to vent properly. I don't know how to answer that question though. This could be a dumb idea now the more I think of it.

well it really wasn't a dumb idea its just that I really don't think a person needs a gas gauge I mean come on when it runs out you know you have roughly a gallon left so its time to get to the service station I usually carry a 2.5 gallon can with me anyway not many stations on the trails at the top of the mountains in WV hehehehe

I went check out the Automatic today. I'm thinking about puting the gas tank on my manual for 6 reasons, 1) 1/2 gallon more capacity 2) Bigger filler neck 3) the Gas guage that is more acurate and better placed 4) the gas cap is easier to take off, no vent to get tangled 5) it looks weird 6) resons #3 and #2 anoy me about my tank
I also noticed some new things today like:
1) The 2000 models actually have wheels that go on with lug nuts.
2) The electrical wires are not exposed to mud and stuff for 2000.
3) Arctic Cat went to foam filters for 2000.
4) The Automatic's 2wd/4wd lever is better than the 300's but it still moves around alot, but it is very easy to change from 2wd/4wd.
5) The automatics have no inner fenders (between the front shocks).
6) All the Arctic Cats come with a redesigned "dash".
7) Speedometer still not upgraded.
8) The range selector on the Automatic works great.
9) The trans vents stick out ALOT on the right side. It looks like it could be modified very easily to be higher since it sticks out so much.

AT- My gas guage is a little optomistic anyhow. I don't know about how precise yours is but mine tells me I have a pretty good amount and then two minutes later I'm going to reserve. Like I said before though. I really dont notice it that much anymore. It is definetely an annoyance that I would enjoy being stopped.

Thats the difference between 98 and 99. The 98 models thought they were full, the 99's thought they were empty. Maybe the 2000's actually have some idea of how much gas they have left.
Also on that Automatic, the battery isn't enclosed in a plastic compartment anymore. Its just protected by steel on all sides. More protection (not needed in its location), but water and mud get to it easier. I also noticed that where the rear axle meets the wheels, its a different design. Has to do with the lugnut setup some as well I guess.
