Myself I own a 1998 Arctic Cat 500 and had really great luck with it. Your looking for a smaller bike. Depending on your size you might want to go with a 400cc. After saying that you might want to check out the new issue of ATV Magazine. They did a comparison of all the new 400cc bikes. If your not satisfied with that the best thing is to try to ride different machines before you buy. That is the ultimate decission maker helper. Reliability is a good asset to have to. It looked like the Kodiak, Prairie, and the Xpedition was tops on their list. Again your size means a lot in that decission. Good Luck!

A 300cc has a lot of power when it only has to turn the rear wheels but I would put on 25" agressive tread tires on the back rims and you will be amazed where it can go.

I have a 1998 ac 300 2x4. I really like the suspension and high ground clearance for trail riding.

My wife has a AC 300 2x4 and I have a AC 500.We both love the 300 and the ride that it has.It has enough power for most any trail ride.We also have found that the front end is not light in hill climbing as some people think.I prefer riding the 300 on trails over the 500.It is much lighter, easier to turn ,and has a little better ride. However,I do wish it had a little more power at times.
You have alot of choices in this size.I think most any of the brands are good. They all have something to offer and all have good points and bad.It just depends on how it feels to you and what you like.Get what fits your needs.
Good luck.
