Give my 03 400i auto more POWER!!
#1
How in the heck do I get my 03 400i auto 4x4 more power, is there any performance parts that can raise the power, or any way to get rid of like 100lbs or so off of it, HELP!!!!!!

Well, correct jetting will help, but before you do that, you should take a few baffles out of the muffler, and do the tranny trick, i just did that but havent had a chance to try it out, a lot of people say it helps for more low-mid power, the muffler thing will help with the sputtering problem you will most likely encounter in the mud, I know it helpped me out. Thats all I have done to mine so far. any other suggestions??

OH YEAH, should I wait a little longer, I mean, get my cat broke in a little more, (only have 160 miles on it) before I start taking baffles out, playing with tranny tricks, or worrying about the jetting???

If it isnt broken in yet, I would wait a bit, I dont know if you have to or not, but I did my muffler at about 400 miles or so. After your machine is broken in you will get more power anyways. I am no professional by any means either, but jetting I would think you can do it at any time cause that shouldnt change with break in, BUT if you are going to do the muffler thing you may have to rejet (some people do some dont) I was way rich before the muffler mod, then after it I had to go to a 155 from a 150 jet. As for the baffles, 1-TAKE THE MUFFLER OFF THE MACHINE 2-cut the caps off each end of the muffler 3-cut the welds holding the baffles in the muffler (4 on each side i think it was, so 8 all together) 4- cut out the stock (dont know what to call it) exhaust pipe (where the exhaust exits the muffler) there is a pipe that runs into the muffler also, get rid of it, and weld a cap over that hole. 5- now use a big stick or something and beat out the baffles, it may take a while to get out but make sure all the welds holding it in are cut, i bent mine to hell getting it out but once it is out you can straighten it easily. 6- after it is out cut it in half roughly and then put it back into the muffler, and tack it back in there, I dont think it matters where it is welded back in, 7- now drill a hole into the exit side of the muffler cap, i drilled a 1.5 inch hole, and weld on a new exhaust pipe , again i used a 1.5 inch pipe. 8- now just put it back together and you are off. As for the tranny trick, I have some pics I got from someone on this site that I can send you, it is really easy to do. These are fangoelgato's pics so I take no credit for them nor did i have anything to do with them. TENs chances are good that your machine is running rich, what altitude are you at, I am at about 2000 ft and as I said I was way rich stock (my plug was black, black, black)
