Artic Cat 400 VS Kodiak 400
#1
I now have a 2001 Kodiak 400 Automatic 2 X 4 and I'm selling it to a family member. I'm getting a new one but not sure what one to get. I really liked the look of the Cat and it looks much more dorable but I've read all the problems with the axle's. Not sure if they ironed them out yet with the 2004 models. I prefer the cats look over the kodiac look. Not sure how to choose. Any suggestions?

An internet forum is not the place to determine the extent of any particular problem. For example, there's all the complaining about Kawasaki Prairie 650's wearing out belts. I know a bunch of guys with Prairies that have had zero problems. I also ride with other AC's that have had zero axle problems. There were not that many Cats with the problem. Also, it was a fixable problem that has been rectified. The 400 is a durable machine with a solid reputation. Besides, I only recall 500 owners on this forum having axle issues, and the vast majority of them had lifts and or bigger than stock tires.
Believe it or not, I've never seen an ATV of any brand stranded on the trail unless it was crashed. I think they are all pretty darned good. I'm partial to the AC because of the good experience I've had with mine.
